About the Area

Correns has a rustic and timeless charm, steeped in centuries of agriculture and viniculture. But this ancient settlement also has a very special place in modern French history. In 1997 Correns was nominated the «1st Organic Village in France» and our farming community proudly produce organic wine, goats cheese, honey, olives, olive oil, truffles, eggs, chickens and a variety of seasonal fruit and vegetables, all of which are available to purchase directly from the producers, in and around the village.

Correns is perfectly situated to explore this wonderful and varied region. Within 1 hour drive, you can visit Aix-en-Provence to the west, St Tropez to the south and the Gorges du Verdon to the north, we are close to beaches, the main tourist attractions and nature reserves of the Var.

Correns is not very commercial but it is the place for lovers of nature and outdoor pursuits. A veritable adventure playground for adults and children alike. Without having to leave our village you can:

  • Hike the Bessillon mountain range
  • Kayak on the River Argens
  • Cycle the quiet country roads and trails through vineyards and forests
  • Mountain bike the rugged trails of the Grand Bessillon
  • Horse ride through the forests and vineyards
  • Play tennis, football or pétanque in the village centre
  • Entertain the children in the playground on the banks of the river
  • Climb the internationally ranked crags at Chateauvert
  • Cool off and picnic in the natural bathing spots of the Vallon Sourn

There are a host of activities and tourist attractions for visitors of all ages in our department. On arrival we provide a Welcome Book with our recommendations. However, the best online source of information, in both French and English can be found on www.provenceweb.fr
